Prep – Essay Cuffs
In Cuffs, there are different ways in which the requirements
to set their base around a family audience are shown. One of these ways is the
right use of language, to make it more family friendly. No bad language
is used in the show which is a good reason why it makes it an 8:00pm show. For example, in the chase scene, if it were real life the policemen would most
likely be cursing a lot and being a lot more aggressive. But this requirement
for this show is to give kids a flavour of what it is like to be a policeman,
and maybe interest them into that area of occupation.
Also, the mild humour of the show meets its objective to
have it family friendly. This is because if there was no humour there would be
no end where the audience or the viewer would have a grin on their face. For
example, one of the greatest sitcoms ever, The Office, almost failed on
succeeding its English counter part because there was no ending that either
left the audience laughing, or with a smile on their face. However, in Cuffs,
the slapstick fighting and the nude beaches make it very enjoyable for most
viewers. Also, in these fight scenes, there is no terror or danger the audience
feel, making it more family friendly.
Lastly, I think that it is very good for all ages because of
the constant action that is happening. What I mean by this is that with all the
action involved, 30 year olds will not think they are too old to watch it but it is
suitable for all ages, in addition with the action scenes being very PG.
In conclusion, I think that it was a very good fit to make
this suitable for all ages and that is was a good idea to make it an 8pm show. This is mainly because of the language used, the mild humour, and the constant action.
